My name is Joshua Avery Foster IV, and my life has been a journey of faith, family, resilience, and service. Every season I’ve walked through — from childhood to adulthood, from classrooms to boardrooms, and from sickness to healing — has shaped me into the husband, father, professional, and believer I am today.

Family First
The greatest joy in my life is my family. I am blessed to share life with my wife, Macallia Foster, and together we are raising our three beautiful children: Miyah, Julian and Kiyah. Being a husband and father is at the core of who I am. Out of all the titles I’ve ever carried, “dad” has always been the one I cherish the most. My family keeps me grounded, gives me purpose, and inspires me to keep pressing forward no matter the challenges I face.
Another defining part of my story is the love and influence of my grandparents, Avery Sr. and Tina Foster. Though they did not give birth to me, I have always considered them my true parents. They raised me, guided me, and instilled in me the values of faith, perseverance, and integrity. I often say, “For as long as I have known me, I have known them,” because their love and example are woven into every part of my life.
Education & School Years
Growing up, I always enjoyed being active and involved. At Enloe High School, I found joy not just in academics but in opportunities to connect with others and express my gifts. I served on the Student Council, sang with the Gospel Choir, and participated in both Chords and Jazz Band. These experiences taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of using my talents to uplift those around me. They also gave me early lessons in leadership — lessons that I still carry with me today.
After high school, I continued my education, majoring in Sociology with a secondary concentration in Human Resources Management. Along the way, I earned certification in interviewing and interrogation techniques, which gave me tools to better understand and work with people.
Career & Leadership
My professional journey began in Asset Protection, where I developed skills in problem-solving, safety, and leadership. Over time, I transitioned into Human Resources, a field where my passion for people and leadership truly flourished. I have had the privilege of overseeing HR operations for more than 150 retail store locations, providing guidance and support to countless employees and managers.
Later, I expanded my career with Walmart, serving as both Asset Protection ASM and Customer Service ASM. These roles challenged me and grew me, but they also allowed me to build lasting relationships and make a positive impact in the workplace. I learned that leadership isn’t about titles — it’s about serving people, inspiring them, and helping them reach their best potential.
A Journey of Resilience
One of the greatest trials of my life has been my long battle with Crohn’s disease. For over a decade, I endured multiple surgeries, long recoveries, and countless physical and emotional challenges. It was not an easy road, but I never walked it alone. With God’s strength, the love of my family, and the lessons of perseverance instilled in me since childhood, I pressed forward.
Eventually, I entered remission, and today I live free from the symptoms that once controlled my life. That season of struggle gave me more than scars — it gave me a testimony. I learned to appreciate life in a deeper way, to trust God more fully, and to be a source of encouragement to others walking through hardship. I often share my story because I believe no trial is wasted when it can inspire someone else to keep going.
My Conviction
Through it all, I’ve come to live by a simple but powerful conviction:
“I want to be known for what I am for, and not just for what I am against.”
That conviction guides me as a husband, as a father, in my career, in my friendships, and in every opportunity I’m given. I strive to stand for faith, family, hope, and perseverance — and to live a life that reflects the goodness of God
